Parent Support

Parenting can be a rewarding experience as we support our young people to grow and become who they are meant to be. But on the best of days, it can be tiring and challenging. When you need extra support around parenting strategies, communication techniques or managing challenging behaviour, seeking support from a Psychologist may be a helpful step to take.

When working with the Psychologist, they may do the following with you:

  • Explain the service, their role and privacy/confidentiality.
  • Seek to understand the challenges you face and the supports you need.
  • Identify if the child may need 1:1 support, or if family counselling is more suitable.
  • Support you in understanding yours and your childs communication style, triggers and behaviour cycles.
  • Develop individualised strategies with you, taking into consideration your circumstances, strengths and supports.
